PLAYING IT STRAIGHT IS ABOUT TO GET COMPLICATED!
TOUCH OF PINK is a comic clash of cultures, values, and sexuality. Alim (THE GURU’S Jim Mistry) seems to have it all: a great career, a hot, handsome boyfriend Giles (Kristen Holden-Ried from LOST GIRL), and a personal guide in the spirit of Cary Grant (Kyle MacLachlan from TV’s “Sex and the City”) who is in his life to teach him how to appear and act “normal.” Living thousands of miles from his mother, Nuru (Suleka Matthew), and his family in Toronto, Alim can keep his gay life hidden. But when Alim’s conservative mom pays an impromtu visit, with the intention of dragging her son to a big fat monsoon wedding with hopes getting him matched up with a “nice girl”, the spirit of Cary Grant becomes indispensable. But Alim’s fear of being “out” causes problems with his out and proud boyfriend. With the pain of separation, Alim goes to the wedding and discovers that the groom is his childhhood lover. The groom “needs” to be married but wants his gay lovers on the side. He hopes that Alim would be that lover but this makes Alim rethink what he really wants in his life. Will he finally stand up and be true to himself and the man he loves or will he follow the lead of his guiding spirit and play it straight?
