The wife of the Orlando nightclub gunman has pleaded not guilty to charges of aiding and abetting her husband and obstruction of justice.
On June 12th 2016 Omar Mateen entered the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida and killed 49 people while wounding 53 others in one of the worst mass killings in American history.
Since the horrific events Mateen’s wife has been arrested and charged with the aforementioned crimes. It has now been revealed that after a brief appearance before a judge in Orlando, Noor Salman, has pleaded not guilty to charges brought against her.
Salman had agreed to be transferred to Florida from California, where she had been held since her arrest in January. Prosecutors are alleging that Salman knew about Mateen’s plans to attack the nightclub. Meanwhile, her attorneys deny that she had prior knowledge of what he would do and that she had no connection to any terror groups.
A trial date has been set for June.
