Bruce Bozzi: ‘The strength of these women live so vibrantly in you’

In the space of two unimaginable days, Scream Queens actress Billie Lourd lost her mother, Carrie Fisher, and her grandmother, Debbie Reynolds.

She’s getting some much-needed support from the rest of her family.

‘The strength of these women live so vibrantly in you,’ Lourd’s stepfather, Bruce Bozzi, wrote in a moving Instagram post on Thursday (29 December).

Bozzi married Hollywood talent agent Bryan Lourd earlier this year after many years together.

The father of the 24-year-old actress famously left her mother for another man and accused her of turning him gay with her drug use – an event Fisher recalled humorously in her stage show Wishful Drinking.

The former couple later became friends and devoted co-parents who even took their daughter on vacations together.

‘It’s an honor to be your stepfather,’ Bozzi wrote in a post that included a photo of Lourd on her graduation day from New York University flanked by her mother and grandmother.

Bozzi recounted the day in detail: ‘This day, your NYU grad day we had so much fun! Yankee Stadium your mom and I laughed our asses off, as she kept one fantastic line coming after the other – no less when we all fell asleep the night before in the smaller ceremony because it was so boring. Every time Carrie looked at me she said “How are you still awake?!” Your grandmother with our sweet Ava was the kindest most loving.’

He concluded: ‘So…as Carrie said to me years ago “I’m a good stepmother” I promise I will always be. The strength of these women live so vibrantly in you. I’ve been lucky enough to see this for a decade! Many decades to come.’

‘Heaven just got a shitload more fun!!!! I love you.’
